Legendary…

An own son of Sun Frost, PC Frosty Red is a gorgeous blood red bay.  With solid cow horse, performance and speed genetics, “Red” brings it all.

In October 2007, Western Horseman magazine ranked their Top 10 Ranch Horse Bloodlines.  We are excited to introduce PC Frosty Red, who holds 4 of Western Horseman’s top 10 bloodlines right on his papers, including Peppy San Badger (#1), Doc Bar (#2), Driftwood Ike, and his own sire, Sun Frost!

“Red” arrived at Linwood Ranch following a successful career as a foundation herd sire at Lazy Lou Quarter Horses.  Louis Godard & Lucille Verstraeten were dispersing their AQHA breeding herd of 39 years and we jumped at the opportunity to purchase the cornerstone stallion from their breeding program.

Red is a direct son of Sun Frost, a 2022 inductee into the AQHA Hall of Fame and legendary Equi-Stat 3rd place All Time Leading Barrel Horse Futurity paternal grandsire and 2019 4th place Equi-Stat Leading Barrel Horse paternal grandsire across all ages and all divisions.  The 1979 palomino stallion sired the earners of more than $2.2 million and is the grandsire of the earners of more than $14 million in barrel racing, roping, cutting and reining. His get include Frenchmans Guy (#2 Lifetime Top Barrel Horse Sire All Ages/All Divisions, $14+ million sire), French Flash Hawk (aka “Bozo”, ’94,  ’96, ’97, ’98 WPRA World Champion Barrel Horse and 5-time AQHA/WPRA Barrel Horse of the Year), PC Frenchmans Hayday, and PC Sun Socks.  In their 2007 Top 10 Ranch Horse Bloodlines article, Western Horseman noted, “His distinctive blend of foundation blood, including Doc Bar, Driftwood and Hancock, made him a prepotent sire of stout, quick, athletic horses with willing dispositions and unforgettable color.”

Red's dam, PC Aramis Peppy, is by Tuff Time Peppy, a proven producer of money and point earners totaling in excess of $100,000 and an own son of Peppy San Badger, the patriarch of dominant lines in the cutting, reining and reined cow horse industries.  Peppy San Badger was the 1977 NCHA Futurity Champion and had NCHA earnings of $172,710. He produced 8 World Champions and 10 Reserve World Champions, with a total of 1,144 performing foals earning 7,506 AQHA Points, 182 Registers of Merit, and combined NCHA/NRHA/NRCHA Earnings in excess of $25 million.  Tuff Time Peppy was out of Sissy Freckles, AQHA performance point earner (7.0, cutting) and producer of 4 foals with NCHA progeny earnings of $10,813 and 21.0 performance points.  Sissy Freckles is by NCHA Money Earner and World Champion producer Jewel’s Leo Bars (sire of the AQHA World Champion Cutting Horse Freckles Playboy and AQHA Hall of Famer Colonel Freckles).

PC Frosty Red is a gorgeous blood red bay.  With solid cow horse, performance and speed genetics, Red brings it all.  Louis and Lucille found his foals consistently solid and colorful, making superb young prospects with good minds, bone and undeniable character.  His first Linwood foal crop exceeded our expectations and were tremendously easy to start. We’re excited to see what he has in store for us in 2022!
